Consently vs Cookie Script: Which CMP Is Right for You?

Consently vs Cookie Script: compare pricing, scanning, agency tools, and compliance features to pick the right consent management platform for your sites.

by Billal Hossain • 1 July 2026

This page compares two consent management platform (CMP) products: Consently (consently.net) and Cookie Script, the paid CMP at cookie-script.com. Cookie Script is a consent platform, not a generic JavaScript cookie snippet. That distinction matters because searching "cookie script" surfaces many JavaScript tutorials. The product this page covers is a full GDPR and CCPA compliance tool.

Cookie Script earns a 4.0 out of 5 in our independent review. Consently earns a 3.7. That gap is real and this page does not paper over it. Cookie Script is an established, deeply reviewed CMP with strong scanning, a permanent free plan, and Google certification. Consently is newer, less reviewed, and trails on scanning maturity. Where Consently leads is pricing structure: flat capacity pricing with every feature on every plan, three policy generators, and live chat across all tiers. The right pick turns on how many sites you run and whether you need a white-label dashboard. It also depends on how much advanced features like IAB TCF matter to your budget.

Consently vs Cookie Script: Our Scores

Both products are scored on the same seven-dimension rubric our team applies to every CMP, weighting compliance and scanning most and reputation least. See how we score every CMP for the full weighting and evidence.

Disclosure: Consently publishes this comparison and is one of the two tools scored here. We did not exempt our own product and we did not place it first by default. Cookie Script earns the higher overall score, and this page says so plainly.

Cookie Script leads on compliance coverage, scanning, integrations, and reputation. Consently leads on pricing value and banner flexibility. Performance is even.

Compliance and Framework Coverage: Cookie Script Leads

Cookie Script

Cookie Script holds a Google-certified CMP Partner status and full IAB Europe membership. It supports Google Consent Mode v2 on every plan, including the free tier. IAB TCF integration (version 2.3) is available, but only on the top PLUS plan.

Coverage spans GDPR, CCPA and CPRA, LGPD, ePR, CNIL, UK GDPR, PIPEDA, KVKK, POPIA, and more than a dozen additional regimes. The banner applies the correct consent model per visitor region automatically via geo-targeting.

Consently

Consently is certified for Google Additional Consent AC v2 and supports Google Consent Mode v2. IAB TCF support is present, though Consently does not publish a confirmed version, so this page states IAB TCF support without a version number. The full Google CMP Partner listing is pending approval at the time of writing. Consently does not yet appear on the official Google-certified CMP list.

Consently covers GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, LGPD, and additional regulations via automatic geotargeting. Coverage is solid for the main regimes a typical site encounters.

Verdict: Cookie Script

Cookie Script wins. Its confirmed Google-certified CMP Partner status, documented IAB TCF 2.3 on PLUS, and deeper regulation breadth pull ahead. Consently's certification path is real but incomplete. If IAB TCF is a hard requirement for your ad tech stack, Cookie Script PLUS is the confirmed option.

Cookie Scanning and Auto-Blocking: Cookie Script Leads

Cookie Script

Cookie Script uses a headless-browser scanning engine that executes JavaScript as a real browser would. Its cookie database holds 100,000+ entries, covering around 80% of typical site cookies by its own estimate. The scanner detects cookies on separate pages and subfolders, not just the root URL.

Automatic monthly rescans are included on the STANDARD and PLUS plans. The free and LITE plans require manual scans. Automatic script blocking is gated to STANDARD and above.

Page scan caps vary: FREE allows 10 pages per domain, LITE 100, STANDARD 1,000, and PLUS 3,000. For a 200-page site, that means LITE is the minimum viable paid tier.

Consently

Consently runs automatic weekly scans on all plans. That frequency beats Cookie Script's monthly automatic scan (available only on STANDARD and above). Consently also auto-blocks non-essential cookies, scripts, and iframes before consent across all plans.

Where Consently trails is in scanning depth. Cookie Script's headless-browser engine and 100,000-entry database represent a more mature, battle-tested scanner with years of refinement. Consently launched in October 2025, so its scanning track record is thinner.

Verdict: Cookie Script

Cookie Script's scanning maturity edges ahead. The larger cookie database, headless-browser engine, and longer track record matter. Consently's weekly scan frequency is a genuine advantage on STANDARD-equivalent features, but the underlying scanner depth is not yet comparable.

Banner and Consent Experience: Consently Leads

Cookie Script

Cookie Script supports up to 42 banner languages. The banner offers four layout styles, custom colors, branding removal on LITE and above, and a preference center for granular category consent. Consent recording is gated to PLUS.

Consently

Consently supports 35 banner languages with automatic browser language detection. The banner builder includes full styling control: layouts, colors, fonts, custom CSS, and a live preview. The preference center is available on all plans. Consent logs are available on all plans, with export for compliance audits.

Three policy generators are included: Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Terms and Conditions. Cookie Script generates only Privacy and Cookie policies, with no Terms and Conditions generator.

Verdict: Consently

Consently wins on banner experience and policy breadth. Full styling control, consent logs on every plan, and a Terms and Conditions generator give it the edge here. Cookie Script's 42-language count is higher than Consently's 35, but Consently's generator breadth and all-plan consent records tip the balance.

Ease of Setup and Integrations: Cookie Script Leads

Cookie Script

Cookie Script installs four ways: a one-line script, a Google Tag Manager tag template, a native WordPress plugin, or a native Shopify app. Twelve platform integrations are listed: GTM, WordPress with WooCommerce, Shopify, Squarespace, Joomla, Magento, Drupal, PrestaShop, Shopware, Wix, Weebly, and OpenCart.

G2 reviewers consistently praise setup speed. One COO described the integration as straightforward, with minimal impact on performance. An agency owner called the GTM integration extremely intuitive.

Consently

Consently installs via a one-line script in the site head, WordPress plugin, or Shopify integration. Setup is described as a three-step process. The platform supports WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, and GTM, among others.

Verdict: Cookie Script

Cookie Script edges ahead on integration breadth. Twelve documented platform integrations, a native Shopify app, and a GTM gallery template carry a longer track record. Both are fast to set up. Cookie Script's native Shopify app and deeper WordPress history give it the advantage here.

Pricing and Value: Consently Leads

Cookie Script

Cookie Script prices per domain in fixed bundles. These tiers come from a live check of Cookie Script's pricing page on 2026-06-29, at the 2-domain selector.

  • FREE: €0; 2 domains; capped at 10 pages per domain and 10,000 pageviews per month; no geo-targeting or script blocking
  • LITE: €6 per month (€3.00 per domain); 100 pages per domain; adds geo-targeting, Privacy Policy generator, custom colors, branding removal
  • STANDARD: €7 per month (€3.50 per domain); 1,000 pages per domain; adds automatic monthly scans and automatic script blocking
  • PLUS: €9 per month (€4.50 per domain); 3,000 pages per domain; adds IAB TCF, consent recording, banner analytics, cross-domain consent, banner sharing, API

Those figures are the per-month rate billed annually at the 2-domain selector. The per-domain rate scales as you move the selector to 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, or 200 domains. All plans bill on a one-year cycle. There is no monthly billing option for any paid tier.

Two structural issues stand out. First, domain bundles are fixed: if you manage three sites, you buy the 5-domain bundle and pay for two unused slots. Second, the most-wanted compliance features sit entirely behind PLUS. A buyer who needs only IAB TCF or consent records must jump to the top tier.

Consently

Consently prices by capacity, not per domain. Three flat annual tiers cover increasing domains and pageviews.

  • Basic: $99 per year ($8.25 per month effective); 1 domain; 100,000 pageviews per month
  • Premium: $199 per year ($16.50 per month effective); 5 domains; 1,000,000 pageviews per month
  • Enterprise: $499 per year ($41.50 per month effective); 10 domains; 3,000,000 pageviews per month

Every feature, including IAB TCF support, consent logs, all three policy generators, and auto-blocking, is included on every plan. A buyer does not have to reach a higher tier to get compliance features.

A 14-day free trial with no credit card is available. There is no free-forever plan.

Comparing value at scale

For a single site, Cookie Script's free plan is a genuine advantage. Consently's free trial runs 14 days and then requires payment.

For five sites, Consently Premium at $199 per year compares to Cookie Script's 5-domain bundle. The exchange rate fluctuates, but at current rates Consently is broadly comparable or cheaper per domain. Its advantage is that every compliance feature is already included.

For agencies managing 10 or more sites, the math shifts depending on what features you need. Cookie Script PLUS at the 10-domain bundle is roughly comparable in base cost, but adds only PLUS-tier features for every domain. Consently Enterprise at $499 per year covers 10 domains with all features and live chat included.

Verdict: Consently

Consently wins on pricing value. Flat per-domain capacity pricing with no feature gating eliminates the decision fatigue around which tier to buy. Cookie Script's free plan is real and useful; Consently has no free tier. Starting a single site and want to test at zero cost? Cookie Script's free plan is worth considering before you commit to either paid product.

Agency Features: Split Verdict

This segment deserves its own treatment because the two products take meaningfully different approaches, and neither wins outright.

Cookie Script for agencies

Cookie Script builds explicitly for web agencies. Its agency model includes:

  • A white-label dashboard the agency hosts on its own domain, with its own logo and colors, requiring no development
  • Per-client access controls: full edit access or read-only (statistics only) per client
  • Banner sharing with clients via email invite (requires PLUS)
  • API for automated banner and client creation (PLUS)
  • Cross-domain consent across all agency domains and subdomains (PLUS)
  • A reseller model: buy a multi-domain plan, resell domains to clients, invoice clients directly

The one documented friction point is the inability to mix plan tiers within a single account. One agency CEO on G2 frames the cost of that limit. It forces "separate accounts or uniform plans across clients which adds unnecessary administrative overhead."

Consently for agencies

Consently supports multi-site management from one dashboard. The multi-site dashboard, flat per-domain pricing, and all-features-included model mean agencies pay predictably as they scale. There is no per-client sub-account or white-label dashboard.

Verdict: Split

Cookie Script wins on white-label and client sub-account capability. That is a decisive feature for agencies that resell compliance as a branded service. Consently wins on multi-domain economics and simplicity. Some agencies do not need white-labeling and just want to manage client sites cheaply from one login. For them, Consently's flat pricing at Premium ($199 for 5 domains) or Enterprise ($499 for 10 domains) with no feature gating is a credible choice. For an agency that needs white-label dashboards and client-level access controls, Cookie Script PLUS is the stronger fit.

Support and Reputation: Cookie Script Leads

Cookie Script

Cookie Script holds 510 reviews on G2 at 4.6, 57 reviews on Capterra at 4.8, and 394 reviews on Trustpilot at 4.7. That is a broad, multi-platform review base built over multiple years. See our full Cookie Script review for the complete scored evaluation across all seven dimensions.

G2 reviewers most frequently cite ease of use, fast setup, and affordable pricing as strengths. The most common complaints are limited banner customization, the strictness of domain-count limits, and support response variability. Performance impact on Core Web Vitals (LCP and FCP) appears in a minority of G2 reviews.

Support runs via a help center and contact channel. No live chat is advertised on the pricing or product pages.

Consently

Consently launched in October 2025. It has approximately 27 AppSumo reviews at around 4.0 out of 5. No G2, Capterra, or Trustpilot review base exists yet. Live chat is available on all plans, including Basic.

Verdict: Cookie Script

Cookie Script leads on support and reputation by a significant margin. Its 500-plus cross-platform reviews give a much clearer picture of real-world performance. Consently's live chat across all plans is a genuine support advantage, but it cannot compensate for an absence of verified third-party reviews at this point.

Who Should Choose Cookie Script

Cookie Script is the stronger choice for proven, low-cost, single-bundle compliance. Pick it in these cases.

Choose Cookie Script if:

  • You want a permanent free plan for one or two sites
  • You manage 2 to 5 sites that fit cleanly into one of the domain bundles
  • You need confirmed IAB TCF and a Google-certified CMP Partner credential
  • You run an agency that resells compliance and needs a white-label dashboard with per-client access controls
  • You value a large, multi-platform review base as a signal of product stability

Who Should Choose Consently

Consently is the stronger choice for multi-site portfolios that want every feature on a flat plan. Pick it in these cases.

Choose Consently if:

  • You manage multiple sites and want flat predictable pricing with no per-feature upgrades
  • You need a Terms and Conditions generator alongside Privacy and Cookie policies
  • You want every compliance feature, including consent logs and auto-blocking, without tiering up
  • Your domain count does not fit neatly into Cookie Script's fixed bundle steps
  • You want live chat on every plan, including the entry tier

Pricing Compared: A Worked Example

Here is what five sites costs on each platform in a typical year, with comparable features.

On Cookie Script, five domains on the PLUS tier (the tier IAB TCF and consent records require) run about €4.50 per domain per month. That is near €22 per month, billed annually.

On Consently, the Premium plan is $199 per year ($16.50 per month effective) for five domains with all features included. See Consently pricing for the full tier breakdown.

At current EUR/USD rates, Consently Premium is broadly cheaper for five sites with full feature access. The calculation shifts if you only need LITE or STANDARD features from Cookie Script, in which case Cookie Script is more competitive on per-domain cost. FAQs

Does Cookie Script have a free plan?

Cookie Script has a permanent free plan that covers 2 domains, scanning 10 pages per domain, and 10,000 pageviews per month. It includes Google Consent Mode v2 and a basic consent banner, but withholds geo-targeting, auto-blocking, IAB TCF, and consent records. Consently does not have a free plan. It offers a 14-day trial with no credit card required.

Is Cookie Script GDPR compliant?

Cookie Script is a Google-certified CMP Partner and supports GDPR opt-in consent requirements, automatic script blocking (STANDARD and above), and consent recording (PLUS). IAB TCF 2.3 is available on the PLUS plan. These features, combined, support a GDPR-compliant setup when configured correctly.

What is the difference between Consently and Cookie Script pricing?

Cookie Script prices per domain in fixed bundles. You choose between 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, or 200 domains and pay a per-domain rate that varies by plan tier. Advanced features require the top PLUS tier. All plans are annual-only. Consently prices by capacity: $99 per year for 1 domain, $199 for 5, and $499 for 10. Every feature is included on every plan, with a 14-day free trial.

Can Cookie Script manage multiple client sites?

Cookie Script has a dedicated agency model. It includes a white-label dashboard on the agency's own domain plus per-client full or read-only access. Banner sharing via email invite and an API for automated client creation are both PLUS features. The constraint is that you cannot mix plan tiers within one account. Consently supports multi-site management from one dashboard without a white-label or per-client sub-account.

Does Cookie Script include IAB TCF?

IAB TCF 2.3 is included on the PLUS plan only. It is not available on FREE, LITE, or STANDARD. If IAB TCF is a requirement for your ad tech or publisher setup, you must be on PLUS and commit to the annual subscription.

Which CMP is better for agencies?

It depends on what the agency needs. Cookie Script is better if white-label branding and per-client sub-accounts are required. Consently is better if the agency prioritizes flat multi-domain economics and no feature gating. Cookie Script cannot mix plan tiers within one account. Some agency users on G2 flag this as administrative overhead when clients have different needs.

Does Consently have a Terms and Conditions generator?

Yes. Consently includes a Terms and Conditions generator alongside its Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy generators, on every plan. Cookie Script's generator produces only Privacy and Cookie policies, with no Terms and Conditions document.

How do Consently and Cookie Script compare on scanning?

Cookie Script uses a headless-browser engine with a 100,000-entry cookie database. Automatic monthly rescans run on STANDARD and above, with PLUS reaching 3,000 pages per domain. Consently runs automatic weekly scans across all plans. Cookie Script's scanner has a longer track record and a larger database. Consently's weekly frequency is an advantage for detecting newly added trackers quickly.

Is Consently or Cookie Script better for small websites?

For a single small website, Cookie Script's free plan is the lowest-risk starting point. It is permanently free, requires no payment details, and covers the basics. Consently's trial lasts 14 days before requiring payment. If the site grows past 2 domains or needs IAB TCF or consent records, both products require paid upgrades. Consently's all-features model means there is no second upgrade later.

Can I try Consently before buying?

Yes. Consently offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Every feature is available during the trial, including auto-blocking, consent logs, and all three policy generators. You can start a free 14-day Consently trial to test the platform against Cookie Script's free tier before committing.
